I think if community organizations holding events knew that an OK Food Coop truck could "cater" the event (e.g. spring, summer and fall festivals, kids sports events, etc.) that we'd get a lot of invitations. I'd love to hear your and other coop members ideas about a food truck.

Peace,
Sandy KunzSandra Kunzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02233563715760177570noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8679967769168352460.post-12250892533073239262011-12-07T08:03:04.364-06:002011-12-07T08:03:04.364-06:00This is a great list. We just happen to be cooking up five pounds of ground meat tonight - we add some of what we like in most of our meals, such as onions, garlic, celeriac, then freeze meal-size portions to which we later add tomato sauce, or tomatoes and beans. We also added sunroot (Helianthus tuberosus) a locally available (in our yard) nutritious tuber. The meat is the result of a neighbor's hunting and generosity. The garlic we grow ourselves. I am learning how to cook this way, and it is working out very well. Thanks for the chock-full Bobaganda! One does not have to have learned these skills in childhood - they can be learned even as adults. And it is so satisfying to have delicious, healthy, less expensive meals from familiar sources.Rayehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01536367071436288077noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8679967769168352460.post-63031979000848900542010-12-07T19:25:51.816-06:002010-12-07T19:25:51.816-06:00Her business is Earth Elements Market Bakery. Regarding additional delivery sites and marketing issues, we might consider partnering with the school districts. Hundreds of employees know where the administration building is. Most admin buildings have a meeting hall for our delivery. Plan our deliveries around district paydays. Marketing through the district's inter-school mailing system would be an effective way to reach thousands. Each school building could promote to its PTA/Parent Group and contact even more.sharylpickenshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04317258090662196597noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8679967769168352460.post-52641841423799913002010-11-28T20:26:09.102-06:002010-11-28T20:26:09.102-06:00Well, these ideas were all posted by the persons i...Well, these ideas were all posted by the persons indicated in the public discussion groups of the cooperative, whose archives are open for anyone to read, so they are already a matter of the "public record" so to speak. I think many of us are turning a deaf ear to the trenders because dire predictions are the way they get their press. We have been overrun with doom and gloom for the last couple of years. Not wishing to argue with you in the least, just trying to make some sense of itl. All of us have opinions, but some people make the headlines. As for food storage, it is a good idea no matter what might happen ahead. It smooths out the seasonal fluctuations, takes full advantage of sales, cuts down on the trips to the store, etc. Very efficient and economical.

Have read recently in the finance news that the wholesalers have ALREADY increased prices to the retailers substantially but that the big stores have been afraid to pass those increases on to the customers too quickly. My husband took one look at the bacon prices at WalMart a few days ago and said, no more! In the past the pre-holiday sales have been a good time to stock up on baking and canned goods, but I'm wondering if we'll ever see such good sales again.

And thanks for your Compendium of Links. ~LizMyBulletinBoardhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07961091298654325887noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8679967769168352460.post-90778601492693877992010-08-05T18:37:26.376-05:002010-08-05T18:37:26.376-05:00So good to hear your voice again!
